Since 2021, the Liberec-based outdoor company OutdoorKWAK has specialized in producing sleeping bags and outdoor clothing. Sleeping bags are the company's flagship product—the very foundation of a business that started with a frog in its logo. It all began with a chance meeting between Eva Hrstková and David Pařízek, who was looking for someone to sew a sleeping bag exactly to his specifications. They decided to go into business together, and what started as a small workshop has since grown into a thriving company with ambitions to expand into international markets.
KWAK sleeping bags stand out due to several key factors. The first is the combination of precise tailoring craftsmanship with a unique nanomaterial. The fabric used for KWAK sleeping bags was developed in collaboration with SVITAP, specifically its TEXTILE LAMINATION division, and the Technical University of Liberec, where the method for industrial nanofiber production was discovered. At SVITAP, we laminate a nanotechnology membrane onto polyamide, giving the fabric properties that allow it to perform even in the most demanding conditions. The application of nanotechnology to down products is what sets OutdoorKWAK apart from the competition. They hold the exclusive license for this fabric, meaning no one else in the world can use it for manufacturing.
The Role of Goos Down in Sleeping Bags
The sleeping bags are filled with premium Czech goose down, known for its exceptional thermal insulation, durability, and ultra-lightweight properties. This down is highly compressible—up to 85 %—making it a great advantage for travel. It is completely odor-free and undergoes multiple washes and sterilization at temperatures between 150–400°C before processing, giving it a lower allergy potential compared to standard synthetic fillings. And last but not least, it is 100 % recyclable.
Advantages of Nanomembrane Technology
Nanomembranes are ultra-thin layers that provide high breathability and water resistance. When integrated into sleeping bag design, they act as a barrier against moisture while allowing internal humidity to escape. This ensures that the down filling remains dry, maintaining its insulating properties even in damp environments.
The KWAK brand is gaining popularity thanks to its custom-made sleeping bags, tailored precisely to individual customers. They take measurements, listen to the customer’s needs, and design exactly what they are looking for.
In addition to sleeping bags, they also produce outdoor clothing — jackets, vests, gloves, skirts, and pants. More recently, they have expanded into children's products, offering down sleeping bags, jackets, gloves, and even down booties.
